Whitesel Church Organs Provides Viscount UNICO Organ to The Bach Choir of Bethlehem

Performance Held at The Music Center of Strathmore

Monday, March 13th, 2013 8:00p.m.

America’s oldest Bach Choir, accompanied by their orchestra, performed Mendelssohn’s choral masterpiece Elijah.  Elijah is a fiery oratorio that recounts the story of the biblical prophet with vast and intense drama.  After its premiere in London in 1846, The Times of London reported “Never was there a more complete triumph – never a more thorough and speedy recognition of a great work of art.” Distinguished soloists include Washington favorite Rosa Lamoreaux, soprano, and in the title role of Elijah, bass-baritone Dashon Burton, praised in the New York Times for his “enormous, thrilling voice seemingly capable…of raising the dead.”

The organ used was a physically modeled Viscount UNICO 300 with Physis Technology, which was provided and installed by Whitesel Church Organs.  This is the first organ to use no sampled sounds whatsoever in the replication of pipe organ sound.  With its internal library of over 500 historical pipe organ ranks, the Viscount Organ was able to be voiced to the organist’s exacting specifications.    This flexibility gave the listeners in the audience the opportunity to be transferred back in time to London, 1846.  As they sat in their seats in 2013, the organ faithfully, realistically, and physically reproduced the experience in the way it happened 167 years ago.

International Concert Artists Jeremy Filsell and Neil Weston Presents...

The Battle of the Organs

The Church of the Epiphany, Downtown Washington D.C.

Monday, March 11th, 2013 7:00p.m.

For Immediate Release:  'David and Goliath'! 'A Tale Two Organs'!  Call it what you like, but we call it a meeting of the minds.  This isn't just an organ recital.  It's a show.  Prepare to have a good time and be thoroughly entertained with 7 Manuals, Two Pedalboards, and plenty of stops for everyone.

This concert is a melding of two technologies playing in harmony.  Experience the old world technology of Epiphany's magnificent 64 Rank Æolian-Skinner Pipe Organ pitched with new world technology from Viscount Organ Company, know as 'Physis'.  3,467 finely crafted real windblown pipes on one side, and 4,000 watts if power along with the most powerful and most advanced digital organ in the world on the other.

This Viscount UNICO Organ with Physis Technology is the first organ to apply physical modeling to pipe organ sound generation.  This instrument uses no sampled sounds whatsoever, but instead processes complex mathematical algorithms at speeds in excess of 12 Billion pieces of information per second.  The end result is not only how a pipe organ sounds, but also how a pipe organ feels and acts.

Located in the heart of Downtown Washington D.C., (1317 G St., NW Washington D.C. 20005) Historic Church of the Epiphany is the perfect setting for such an event.  It's certainly fitting that at one time, members of both the Union and Confederacy attended services here, and lived to talk about it!

Viscount Physis Technology Presentation

Monday, January 28th

7:00p.m.

Saint Timothy Catholic Church

13807 Poplar Tree Rd.

Chantilly, VA

This hour long presentation introduces a new way to think about pipe organ sound reproduction.  With over $5,000,000 invested, 10 years of development, and the work of 40 engineers, Physis Technology by Viscount recreates not only how a pipe organ sounds, but also how one feels and acts.  Through a process called 'physical modeling', the Viscount UNICO Organ uses no sampled sounds whatsoever.  Viscount International of Italy is sending a representative to give you an informational power point presentation complete with video and audio samples of this state of the art and industry changing technology.  Before making the purchase of a sampled sound organ, you need to be a part of this free and educational presentation.  Whitesel Church Organs is the exclusive provider of this technology to Virginia, Maryland, and the D.C. Metropolitan Area.

NOTE:  This is NOT a sales presentation, so feel comfortable in joining us even if you're not in the market for an organ.

Inaugural Organ Dedication Concert Spectacular

Sept. 30 2012

On behalf of the entire congregation of Verona United Methodist Church, we are honored to request your presence at their Organ Dedication Concert Spectacular. Be prepared to experience the power and majesty of this magnificent custom built three-manual Viscount organ with revolutionary state of the art technology called Physis.  Faster than the human mind can think, the Verona UMC organ reads and interprets the organists motions and movements to determine not only how a pipe organ would sound, but also how it would physically act based on his or her registration selection, temperature and humidity of the room, and it's acoustical environment.

Filled with over 550 unique organ voices and 5 custom built in organs (an unlimited number of registrations can be added at anytime), Verona UMC's new instrument will instantly transform from an American, to German Baroque, to French Romantic, to English Organ (among others), with just the touch of a button.  You will hear a wide variety of music and sounds anyone can enjoy, including our favorite hymns!  Jesse Ratcliffe, the concert organist, is a master of the instrument. Be prepared to find yourself questioning what you thought an organ could do, and what you thought an electronic organ was capable of.

The congregation of Verona United Methodist Church asks for you to come and be a part of this momentous and worshipful occasion.  The organ concert begins at 4:00p.m. on Sunday, September 30th, 2012 at Verona United Methodist Church, located at 406 Lee Highway, Verona, VA 24482.  Come see and hear first hand how an organ can transform a music worship service, and why Verona United Methodist Church chose Norman Whitesel Church Organs, and a Viscount UNICO 400 with Physis Technology.
